Great to have WPL in multi-city format: Smriti Mandhana
“It would be great to have WPL in a multi-city format. I think that could be the next step and I’m sure the people here will look into it and make it happen. As an RCB fan, I would love to play at Chinnaswamy where people chant ‘RCB RCB’ and just be in that atmosphere. “That is something that is a step forward for us as (the multi-city format) can reach places where women’s cricket hasn’t reached and attract new audiences to women’s cricket.” Mandhana said.
He further spoke about the upcoming WPL auction on December 9 in Mumbai. Mandhana said that she is looking forward to the WPL and she is interested in bringing in the best players for next season.
“There has been a lot of thought about what kind of combinations we need in terms of releases or retention. So we are really looking forward to the WPL auctions and hopefully we will get the players we are looking forward to getting.” she said.
With IPL 2024 Scheduled between March and May 2024, the WPL could begin in February, according to reports.
