On Saturday, December 7, the governing body officially announced the player auction list for the Women’s Premier League Auction 2025 (WPL Auction 2025).
The Women’s Premier League 2025 auction (WPL Auction 2025) will be held on December 15, 2024 in Bengaluru. The event will begin at 3 pm on Sunday.

WPL 2025 auction: 120 players shortlisted
The governing body has selected a total of 120 players to be auctioned in the Women’s Premier League auction. Of those 120 cricketers, 91 are Indian players and 29 are foreign cricketers, and 3 of them are from Associated Nations. Those associate nation players are Sarah Bryce of Scotland and Samaira Dharnidharka and Theertha Satish of the United Arab Emirates.
Nine players participating in the auction are Indian players, while 21 are foreign players. Additionally, the player auction list consists of 82 uncapped Indian players and 8 uncapped overseas players.
However, only 19 players will be sold at the auction, of which 5 will be foreigners, as only these places are open in the five teams of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

WPL 2025 auction: Teams receive INR 15 crore to form squads
Mumbai Indians Women, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals Women and UP Warriorz received a total of INR 15 crore to build their teams for the 2025 season, which is an increase from the purse of INR 13, 5 crore last year.
Gujarat Giants will enter the auction with the biggest purse of INR 4.40 crore and will aim to rebuild their team after releasing 7 players.
Meanwhile, two-time runners-up Delhi Capitals Women will have the smallest purse of INR 2.5 crore. The rest of the teams, Mumbai Indians Women, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women and UP Warriorz, have a purse of INR 2.65 crore, INR 3.25 crore and INR 3.90 crore.
Delhi Capitals Women, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians Women and Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women have four open slots each, while UP Warriorz have three open slots.
The biggest attraction in this year’s auction will be West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin, England captain Heather Knight and former South African wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee, who have the highest base price of INR 50 lakh.
The 2025 Women’s Premier League will be played in the February-March window, and then from 2026 it will move to the January-February window.
Like the IPL, the WPL is not played in a home-and-away format, and only a limited number of venues host the matches. The inaugural season was held entirely in Mumbai, while the second season was played in Bengaluru and New Delhi.
