Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Abhishek Sharma has found himself in trouble ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The young batsman was questioned by the police authorities in connection with the alleged suicide of model Tanya Singh.
Abhishek Sharma was reportedly in a relationship with Tanya Singh and the duo was very close. The 28-year-old model was found hanging from the ceiling of her apartment in the Vesu area of the city on February 19. This sparked a lot of speculation and there has been a lot of speculation ever since.
Police officers questioned Abhishek Sharma in Surat city in Gujarat for almost four hours. The police authorities asked the all-rounder to come forward earlier and take note of his statement after the connection between cricket and the model was discovered. The model had also sent text messages to the cricketer.
A police officer recalls that Abhishek Sharma was questioned about his relationship with Tanya Singh. He revealed that the couple broke up 6-7 months ago and the cricketer did not respond anything. Speaking to PTI, he stated:
“We asked Sharma about his relationship with Tanya Singh and how long they knew each other. It was revealed that they both broke up 6 to 7 months ago. Although she used to text him on the phone, he had stopped responding to them.”
Earlier, the police officer also revealed that they have not contacted Abhishek Sharma, but the police are checking the CDR (Call Detail Record) and IP Detail Record (IPDR) data of the model’s phone. Speaking about the same he stated:
“We have not contacted Abhishek Sharma yet, but we will send him a notice. “After verification, we can call people whose names come up during verification to record their statements, if required.”
Abhishek Sharma to play vital role for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024
Abhishek Sharma will be seen in action for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024. The all-rounder is touted as one of the most exciting youngsters in Indian cricket as he has played vital innings for his team in the domestic circuit as well as in the IPL with the bat, changing the course of the game. Apart from that, he has also contributed with the ball to his team.
Abhishek Sharma was recently seen in action in the Punjab Ranji Trophy. He had a decent campaign and hopes to maintain his form in IPL 2024. The league will be played from March 22 to May 26 and He is expected to open the innings for his team alongside Mayank Agarwal.
Abhishek Sharma will play under the leadership of Australian captain Pat Cummins. The team management recently announced him as leader for the next edition of the league. He will take over from Aiden Markram, who captained the team last year. SRH will open their campaign against KKR. They would hope to turn things around and win their second title this time.
