Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Arshdeep Singh made an explosive claim during an interaction in the middle of the IPL 2026 season. Arshdeep claimed that there are many people, including commentators and cricket experts, who like to see PBKS suffer.
Arshdeep Singh’s comments came after PBKS’ first loss in the current season. In their previous match, they were defeated by Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Tira, Himachal Pradesh.
In an online discussion with a PBKS fan, the Punjab Kings and Team India star bowler claimed that even some of the commentators are clearly against the franchise. Singh believes that they, the PBKS haters, could have celebrated Punjab Kings’ defeat against Rajasthan Royals on April 28.
“If you listened to the commentators, they were not happy when we got back-to-back wins. There are a lot of people who don’t want to see us in a good position. Since we had to suffer a loss in our last match, they got a chance to celebrate us and criticize us,” Arshdeep Singh said.
Another PBKS star, Yuzvendra Chahal, was also there in the video, nodding his head in support of Singh’s allegations.

Arshdeep maintained economy rate of 17.00 against RR
On April 28, at the PCA Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium, Punjab Kings, the home team of the match, posted 222 runs in 20 overs in return for just 4 overs. It was a good score and in the second innings they had a chance to defend the total as well. In the middle phase of the chase, Rajasthan Royals lost several wickets at short intervals and allowed the Kings to make the contest more competitive.
Despite losing multiple crucial wickets, Royals’ young batsmen Donovan Ferreira (52 not out off 26) and Shubham Dubey (31 not out off 12) secured a vital victory for Rajasthan Royals. Dubey came to bat as an impact substitute.
Arshdeep Singh is among the best talents in Twenty20 cricket, and he has not had any at his best so far in IPL 2026. The 27-year-old has so far claimed only 8 wickets in 8 matches at an economy rate of 10.96. Against Rajasthan Royals, it cost an average of 17 runs. In total, the seamer leaked 68 runs in 4 overs against a single wicket. He took the wicket of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was dismissed for 43 off 16.

“One or two games, you can expect him (Arshdeep Singh) to do poorly, but this happens most of the time. He is a bowler known for his wicket-taking skills. When he picks wickets with the new ball, he tends to bowl well.
“It is a matter of concern because if you look at the bigger picture, such a performance in the playoff game can affect the team,” said former Team India player Piyush Chawla, the Punjab pacer, while speaking on ESPN Cricinfo, after the Punjab Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match.
