Will Rajasthan Royals be banned? BCCI secretary reveals plans to punish Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s team

Rajasthan Royals are now in danger after some alarming activities by their support staff and players as the BCCI has warned them to take strict action against the former 2008 IPL champions.

Rajasthan Royals have been performing spectacularly with the bat and recently also ended Punjab Kings’ winning streak for the first time this season. However, they have struggled with a lack of discipline among their players and support staff.

A controversy recently broke out when during the same match between PBKS and RR, Royals captain Riyan Parag was caught on broadcast cameras which quickly went viral and was heavily criticized on social media and later also by the authorities.

Riyan Parag has already faced a ban from BCCI

After Riyan Parag was caught vaping in the locker room along with his cricket teammates Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, the BCCI took appropriate action against him, which was announced on Thursday, a day after the incident occurred.

The star cricketer was not supposed to accept the findings as they were caught on camera and since it was a Level 1 offence, it did not require any hearing. After seeing the evidence, Parag was found guilty of violating the Code of Conduct as per IPL guidelines. Parag was fined 25% of his match fees and given a demerit point for violating Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

However, reports from the BCCI have claimed that they are not happy with the way the RR players and support staff have behaved in recent times and hence new options need to be explored to ensure that “the reputation of the IPL remains intact.”

Devajit Saikia warns Rajasthan Royals of strict action

In the official statement of the BCCI, they have clearly stated that they will seek to explore more options to initiate the procedure to take stricter action against the team that has seriously breached discipline.

The same was confirmed by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who told PTI: “As clearly written in the statement, we are exploring what steps to take with the team. It is not decided yet.”

This is the second major action against Rajasthan Royals as their manager Romi Bhinder was seen using his mobile phone in the dugout and was reprimanded by the BCCI and fined INR 1 lakh.

Rajasthan Royals are off to a promising start as they still seek a second IPL title

Rajasthan Royals have made a stellar start to this season of the competition. After winning their first four matches in this season of the competition, the Riyan Parag-led team had a great start to the campaign, especially with the two young openers starting the innings with a bang.

After three defeats in the season, the Royals won two more matches, with their last victory coming against the table-toppers Punjab Kings who have dominated this IPL season with terrific form and an unbeaten run.
