Paine’s response to the possibility of Australia rotating their rapids across the Ashes and resting Boland for the second Test shows that he feels Starc will replace Boland in the next match. While it’s normal for teams to rotate their fast pitchers during a series, resting Boland would be a risk given his solid performance in the first Test.

The Australian select panel, on the other hand, has a history of rotating their fast bowlers to control the workload and maintain form. Mitchell Starc’s exclusion from the first Test raised some doubts, but he remains one of Australia’s most powerful fast bowlers, and his experience and ability to swing the ball could prove key in the remaining Tests.

“It’s critical when you’re playing in a five-game series, we’re playing six Test games in six weeks, so there’s no question those fast pitchers are going to rotate. I think they will bring Starc for Boland.” said Tim Paine in an interaction on SEN’s ‘Whateley’ podcast.

“Once again without dropping Scott Boland, it’s been amazing but we need all these bowlers to play a part at some point in these ashes. I think the only guy who will try to get through all five tests is obviously our captain Pat Cummins.” Tim Paine added.
