Australian skipper Pat Cummins has admitted he had flashbacks to the 2019 Leeds Test while batting in the last session during the recently concluded first session of the 2023 Ashes at Edgbaston in Birmingham. “Yes, I would be lying if I said no (think Headingley). We’ve been on the other side for the last series…it’s one of those when you’re on the other side, it really hurts (and) feels like one that got away.

“A lot of those guys were there at Headingley. So to feel like we achieved one that was out of reach for a while is pretty satisfying.”

Speaking of the 2019 Headingley Test, England clinched the game against Australia by just one wicket. Ben Stokes scored a magnificent 135 unbeaten runs to bring his team home. Speaking about lower order batting, Pat Cummins said that his bowlers also practice batting and try very hard. He explained:

“It is something that we all practice. Nath (Lyon) also spends a lot of time with him when he is back home; He spends a lot of time hitting him, even adjusting from the first innings, when we got a couple of hits and everyone came out with a clear plan.” He concluded.
