Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Rinku Singh reacted to his first India call-up for the upcoming 2023 Asian Games. He said that although he is a strong guy, when he wears the national team jersey for the first time there will be tears in his eyes .
Quite a few eyebrows were raised when Rinku Singh was not named in the Indian squad for the West Indies T20Is. Many lashed out at the governing body for not selecting him, especially after what he did in the IPL, famous for hitting 5 straight sixes.

But who knew that BCCI had something different in store for him. On Friday (July 14) the Indian team for the Asian Games was announced and the fifth name on the list was Rinku Singh. The hard work of many years has finally paid off for him and in just a few months from now he will be wearing an Indian jersey.

Rinku Singh, who made a big name for himself in the IPL, was one of the leading runners for Kolkata Knight Riders in the league with over 470 runs. The lefty was the mainstay of his team in the league, as he carried them all season and won games from impossible positions.

Reacting to his first Indian call-up, Rinku Singh said that he has not thought about the future but dreamed of playing for India. He reflected on his family’s emotions and said that when he wears an India jersey, it will be dedicated to him. Speaking to RevSportz, he said:
“Everyone dreams of playing for India, wearing that jersey. I don’t think much about the future because the more you think, the more burden you put on yourself. I take life one day at a time. But yes, whoever is dedicated to professional sports wants to represent their country one day or another.
“I know for sure that my family, my parents will be happier than me to see me wear the India jersey. They have been waiting for this for years. They have seen my struggle, they have helped me, they have been with me through all my ups and downs. The day I put on the shirt will be a day dedicated to them”.

IND vs WI: “I’m pretty sure there will be a few tears when I wear India’s jersey for the first time,” says Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh further admitted that there might be a few tears for him when he wears the Indian jersey for the first time. Speaking of the same, he explained:
“I’m a strong guy, but also a bit emotional. I’m pretty sure there will be a few tears when I wear the India jersey for the first time. It’s been a long, hard journey.”
It remains to be seen if Rinku Singh makes his debut for the Indian team at the Asian games or sooner. The batsman could be seen in the Ireland team.
