The 34 year old England cricket team All-rounder Chris Woakes has sent a message to captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum, stating that he is desperate to play the fourth test match of Ashes 2023.

The fourth Test between England led by Ben Stokes and Australia led by Pat Cummins will be played from 19-23 July. The match will take place at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Chris Woakes played his first match of the 2023 Ashes at the Headingley Test. He performed brilliantly and played a key role in England’s first win of the ongoing series.

The all-rounder scored 10 and 32* in two innings. With the ball he was very impressive posting figures of 3/73 and 3/68.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Chris Woakes said he is desperate to be part of a playing XI in the Manchester Test but the selection is not in his hands.

“When you get a chance to play in an Ashes series, you try to take it with both hands,” Woakes said.

“I feel like last week was really good for me and the team and when you win a cricket game you obviously want to be a part of the next game.”

“Obviously I’m desperate to be a part of next week, but at the same time I’m going to get there, try to perform well in practice, do my proper preparation and the selection is out of my control. What will be will be, but I hope to get the go-ahead.”

Speaking of the Manchester Test, Chris Woakes said he was looking forward to another exciting encounter. The all-rounder acknowledged the fact that Australia are hard to beat, but he was hopeful that England would have the winning momentum on their side.

“It’s going to be another tight Test match,” Woakes explained. “We have seen that all three Tests in this series have been very close.”

“There is no question that Australia is a world-class team and they are incredibly difficult to beat and we have seen that throughout the series, but I think we are confident that we can go there and put on another great performance to get the win. .”

“A lot will depend on how the field looks. The pitch will probably depend on the team we go in with, but the team will have the confidence to go and try to get the win. We had a great week at Headingley and hopefully we can have that confidence for next week.”
