Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam achieved a huge milestone during the first Test of the three-match series against Australia. Babar Azam became the fifth Pakistani cricketer to surpass 13,000 runs in international cricket across all three formats of the game.
Babar Azam tentatively started his innings and took 13 balls before getting off the mark with cover from Pat Cummins. The right-handed batsman scored 21 runs off 54 deliveries in the first innings. He passed the ball to keeper Alex Carey off the bowling of Mitchell Marsh.
Babar Azam becomes the fastest batsman to score 13,000 runs
The 29-year-old joined Pakistan’s elite batsmen who have surpassed 13,000 runs in international cricket. Inzamam-ul-Haq leads the list with 20,541 runs, followed by Younis Khan (17,790), Mohammad Yousuf (17,134), Javed Miandad (16,213) and Babar Azam (13,007).
Babar Azam achieved the milestone in 301 innings, making him the fastest among Pakistani cricketers. Previously, Javed Miandad held the record with 305 innings, followed by Mohammad Yousuf in 322 innings, Inzamam-ul-Haq in 352 innings and Younis Khan in 372 innings.
The former captain has represented the Pakistan national cricket team in 50 Tests, 117 ODIs and 104 T20Is during his 8-year career. The batsman has an impressive average of 49.08 across all formats of the game. He has scored 31 centuries and 81 half-centuries to his name.

Pakistan scores 271 runs in first innings in Perth
Earlier in the match, Pakistan bowled out Australia for 487 on Day 2. Pakistan began the third day on 132-2, but were bowled out for 271 in their first innings, trailing Australia by 216 runs. Captain Pat Cummins decided not to impose the continuation and decided to bat again.
The visitors struck early with the ball in Australia’s second innings of the match. Khurram Shahzad took two early wickets, dismissing David Warner (0) and Marnus Labuschagne. However, Khawaja (34) and Steve Smith (43) added an unbeaten partnership of 79 runs.
