Ban loading? Virat Kohli gets into heated exchange with umpire after Jason Holder’s controversial catch to dismiss Rajat Patidar in GT vs RCB clash

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, for the second time in this season of the competition, have struggled with the bat in the powerplay. They have not lost two or more wickets in the first ten overs in most of their matches, and only saw untimely wickets when they faced Rajasthan Royals at the start of the season.

However, against the GT bowlers in Ahmedabad, they struggled even though their batsmen got off to a promising start. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Tim David were sacked in no time after making promising starts.

Virat Kohli started the game with some dominance against veteran pacer Kagiso Rabada, extending his authority over the GT players from the last game. However, Rabada also backed himself up and dismissed the Indian veteran in the next over.

Impressive catch from Jason Holder to dismiss RCB captain

Jason Holder made one of the best catches in this IPL season when he settled nicely under a ball that rose high into the clouds and traveled towards one of those empty holes in the ground.

As Rajat Patidar looked to play a lofted look shot in Arshad Khan’s first over after smashing him for a six off the first ball, the ball rose into the night sky, allowing Jason Holder to run from square leg and settle nicely under the ball.

Holder was in complete control as he got under the ball with those big fingers covering the ball completely and had it in the air before scraping the surface of the ball on the ground in his attempt to get back to his feet.

Virat Kohli and RCB rage at umpires after Rajat Patidar’s controversial dismissal

Having completed the catch, Jason Holder slid the ball to the ground, but the umpires ruled out Rajat Patidar, and the RCB team, including veteran cricketer Virat Kohli, seemed unimpressed with the decision.

While everyone was on their feet protesting the ejection, the umpires deemed that Holder had his fingers under the ball and had also completed the catch and kept it in the air much longer before sliding it down the field.

Along with head coach Andy Flower who looked very agitated, Virat Kohli also apparently lost his cool while trying to explain his point to the fourth umpire on the sidelines of the game. This could cost RCB their fair play points, while there is also some danger looming over the veteran cricketer for his conduct.

Jason ‘Superman’ Holder has held on to every ball played to him in this clash

Jason Holder has been seen almost everywhere on the Gujarat Titans field. The Barbados big man has been in every catching position and has contributed to all four wickets that were inside those 20 balls.

Be it with the ball or on the field, Holder has given his best. He’s been hanging on to the ball everywhere on the field. His second catch of the game was a hard sack to dismiss Tim David. He used his height to great advantage and kept it off the bowling of Rashid Khan.

He then took another simple catch to dismiss Krunal Pandya, which was the sixth wicket to fall for the Challengers. Holder, after catching Patidar, was introduced into the attack for his second spell by Shubman Gill, and he dismissed an out-of-form Jitesh Sharma with the first ball he bowled.
