Rajasthan Royals (RR) batsman Shimron Hetmyer has been fined after the match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Qualifier 2. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI ) punished Shimron Hetmyer for violating the code. of conduct in the recent match.

Rajasthan Royals suffered a heartbreaking 36-run defeat against SunRisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, May 24. The Jaipur-based team failed to chase 176 runs in the do-or-die match. The Royals failed to advance to the summit clash in the current season.

Shimron Hetmyer fined 10 percent of his party fees

Shimron Hetmyer was fined 10% of his match fee for a Level 1 offense under the IPL Code of Conduct. The left-handed batsman smashed his stumps in frustration after he was dismissed during the run chase. The left-hander accepted the match referee’s sanction, bringing the matter to a quick resolution.

The West Indies batsman struggled to score against SunRisers Hyderabad left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma. He managed to score just four runs off 10 balls before Abhishek Sharma cleaned him up. The 27-year-old batsman tried to hit the stumps with his bat before returning to the pavilion.

“Shimron Hetmyer of Rajasthan Royals has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Stadium Chidambaram, Chennai, on May 24. ”said the BCCI.

“Hetmyer committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted the offense and accepted the match referee’s sanction. For Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, the decision of the Match Referee is final and binding,” the BCCI added.

After Hetmyer’s dismissal, Dhruv Jurel made a valiant effort. Rovman Powell scored just six runs off 12 balls before being dismissed by T Natarajan. Jurel remained unbeaten with 56 runs off 35 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. RR’s IPL 2024 campaign ended and SRH advanced to the finals.

Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma were instrumental in restraining the royals from Rajasthan. Shahbaz took three wickets for 23 runs, while Abhishek secured two wickets for 24 runs. Pat Cummins and T Natarajan picked up a wicket each. Shahbaz was named ‘Man of the Match’ for his contributions.

Earlier, SunRisers Hyderabad set a target of 175 after being asked to bat first. Heinrich Klaasen scored a crucial half-century, while Travis Head (34) and Rahul Tripathi (37) made useful contributions. Trent Boult and Avesh Khan took three wickets each, and Sandeep Sharma took two wickets.
