As the ongoing IPL 2024 enters its business phase, Lucknow Super Giants have received a huge spike in injuries. Their pacer Mayank Yadav is all set to return to action to bolster his team’s bowling attack.

Mayank Yadav took the current competition by storm with his sensational bowling. He made his debut in the game against Punjab Kings and bowled a spell to win the match. He picked up three wickets to help LSG win the game and get off the mark in IPL 2024.

The right-arm pacer impressed everyone with his ability to bowl consistently at 150 kmph. In the next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he again impressed with his pace and picked up three more wickets to help his team win the clash.

However, his impressive run in IPL 2024 came to an unfortunate half due to an abdominal injury he sustained while bowling during the game against the Gujarat Titans on April 7. He bowled only one over in the match and left the field after feeling “pain in the lower abdominal area”.

Mayank Yadav to return:

Mayank Yadav will be in action when LSG takes on Rajasthan Royals at home on Saturday. He will miss the match against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday (April 23) but will be available for the clash against the Royals. LSG bowling coach Morne Morkel confirmed the news while he was interacting with the media on Monday.

“He stayed in Lucknow just to have two or three more days without travelling.” Morkel reportedly told.

“He’s with (assistant coach) Lance Klusener and the rest of the guys in Lucknow, training and preparing. So I think, starting from the next game, we’ll look to bring him back.” he added.

Speaking further, the former South Africa pacer offered a promising update on the fast bowler, saying: “He is progressing very well. We are very happy with his progression. He started bowling three or four days ago, so for him it is just a matter now, of course, for him, the expectation is higher, (given) that bowls each ball at 150 kmph.

“It’s just about getting your body and mind into that kind of state where you’re confident, running and bowling the four overs at a tight pace.” -Morkel added-.

Meanwhile, LSG will look for another win over CSK this season when the two teams meet on Tuesday. Last week, LSG thrashed CSK by eight wickets at home and will look to double the reigning champions.
