David Warner rejects IPL return after PSL heartbreak and trolls Indian fan

Former Australia swashbuckling opener David Warner apparently trolled an Indian fan on social media over the ongoing TATA Indian Premier League 2026 (TATA IPL 2026) application amid his team’s shocking exit from the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2026 (PSL 2026).

Despite being the highest overseas run-scorer in IPL history with 6,565 runs, Warner failed to attract any of the 10 teams in the IPL 2025 mega auction and due to this, the Australian legend did not register for the IPL 2026 auction and focused on other franchise leagues including the PSL.

Five consecutive losses crush Karachi Kings’ PSL 2026 campaign

For this season, the left-handed batsman signed a record contract of ₹2.58 crore with Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, Karachi Kings, led by David Warner, failed to make it to the PSL 2026 playoffs due to their five consecutive losses in the tournament.

But Karachi Kings managed to end their season with back-to-back wins. Following his team’s elimination from PSL 2026, Warner was disappointed with the way things unfolded but focused on the positive aspects of the journey and the fighting spirit shown by his team in his Instagram post.

Warner highlighted that his team showed great passion, a strong fighting spirit and a never-give-up attitude throughout the tournament, even when the results were not as desired. He also noted that franchise cricket has become too challenging as every game brings pressure and tough competition.

Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude towards the Karachi fans for their constant support despite his struggles during the tournament. The Australian superstar also thanked the PSL organisers, security teams and police for conducting the tournament smoothly and ensuring the safety of the players.

However, Warner cheekily suggested that future PSL seasons could include more fun and recreational activities for players, such as paddle tennis or golf, and also expressed his hope of playing in front of full stadiums in the coming seasons.

His post quickly caught the attention of Indian fans as well. Some users started commenting on his previous success in IPL and even expressed their desire to see him back in the IPL in the jersey of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which he once led to the title.

David Warner shuts down talk on IPL return after PSL heartbreak

But one comment caught the former starter’s attention. In fact, one Indian fan suggested that Warner should leave the PSL and return to the IPL, calling it a better time for him. The fan wrote in the comment box: “It is better for you to leave the PSL and return to the IPL.”

However, the former World Cup winner did not entertain the idea and firmly dismissed the fan’s suggestion by responding calmly and strongly. Warner responded by saying, “There’s no need for that now.”

Notably, Karachi Kings missed the PSL playoffs for the fourth time as their poor run continued from the 2022 season. On the other hand, Warner remains one of the legends of the IPL.

The experienced opener won the Orange Cap three times, in 2015, 2017 and 2019, and has crossed 500 runs in seven seasons, including six consecutive times, demonstrating his long and strong consistency.
