Rishabh Pant and MS Dhoni

After failing to lead Delhi Capitals to a victory in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, captain Rishabh Pant is leading his team from the front in the ongoing match against Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Asked to bat first, DC got off to a disastrous start as Sandeep Warrier wasted his top order in the powerplay. In the fourth over, the right-arm pacer dismissed Jake Fraser-McGurk and Prithvi Shaw before dismissing Shai Hope in the sixth over to reduce DC to 44 for 3 in the powerplay.

After Hope’s dismissal, Rishabh Pant joined Axar Patel in the middle and the duo steadied the ship for the home team. They shared a huge stand of 113 runs for the fourth wicket to put DC on their way to a big total. Noor Ahmad broke the partnership in the 17th over by dismissing Axar Patel. The bowling all-rounder signed off after scoring 66 runs off 43 balls with the help of five fours and four sixes.

Unlike Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant stayed in the middle till the end to guide his team to a grand total of 224 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs. He remained unbeaten with 88 off just 43 balls. Tristan Stubbs also played a crucial cameo of 26 runs off just 7 balls.

Rishabh Pant’s helicopter shot six:

Rishabh Pant hit as many as eight sixes in his innings. Three of those sixes came in the last three balls of the innings. And best of all is the helicopter shot he played for a six. On the first ball of the 16th over, Mohit Sharma bowled a full toss on the pads and Rishabh Pant pulled MS Dhoni’s signature shot, hitting the ball over the cow corner for a maximum.

With 224 runs on the scoreboard, DC will look to win the game and get back to winning ways after suffering a 67-run defeat in their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. DC have already beaten GT once this season and will be keen for the chance to do a double.
