Delhi Capitals (DC) Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly provided an update on Mitchell Marsh’s injury ahead of the match against Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He revealed that the all-rounder will miss the match against five games. champions due to injury.

Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh suffered an injury before the match against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 and was therefore deemed unfit. The match between the two teams will take place on Sunday (April 7) afternoon at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

This comes as a blow to the Delhi Capitals, who are already struggling to advance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Rishabh Pant-led team is reeling at the bottom of the table, having only managed one win since 4 games so far in the tournament, suffering losses against PBKS, RR and KKR.

Mitchell Marsh has so far failed to make a mark in the league with bat and ball. But with the kind of quality he brings, he will leave a huge void in the Delhi Capitals’ lineup for the match against Mumbai Indians, who are also struggling to get going and are last on the points table.

Sourav Ganguly, while attending the pre-match press conference against Mumbai Indians, confirmed that Mitchell Marsh will miss the match. The former Indian cricketer, however, did not confirm the nature of the injury or for how long he will be out of action.

Mitchell Marsh has so far scored just 61 runs in the four games. He recorded a score of 20 in the game against Punjab and followed it up with 23, 18 and a two-ball duck in the next three games respectively. With the ball, he has only picked one wicket in the four games he has featured for Delhi Capitals.

With Mitchell Marsh set to miss the match against Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals could make the debut of Jake Fraser-McGurk. The young Australian batsman was included in the team as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi, who was ruled out of the tournament before the league. The batsman has been exceptional in the Australian domestic circuit and would also be interested in performing in the IPL.

Besides Mitchell Marsh, Sourav Ganguly provides update on Kuldeep Yadav’s injuries

Delhi Capitals have been playing the last two matches without the services of Kuldeep Yadav. The player suffered groin pain and was deemed unfit to play. As a precautionary measure, the franchise rested him, considering the long tournament that will follow along with the 2024 T20 World Cup.

When asked if Kuldeep Yadav will be available for the match against Mumbai Indians, Sourav Ganguly said, “He will undergo a fitness test for groin stiffness during training and we will know about his availability in the evening.”

Kuldeep Yadav started the season on a high for Delhi Capitals. The player played in the team’s first two matches against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. He bowled very well and picked three wickets for his team but missed the match against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.
