Following this, Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association Chairman Abhilash Khandekar expressed his dissatisfaction, stating that Indore has a rich cricket history and they hoped to be a part of the World Cup. Speaking to PTI, he said:

ICC World Cup 2023: “It seems that only the metropolitan areas and cities where the officials come from have games,” state unit officials say.

Apart from the Madhya Pradesh association, the Punjab official carriers were also disappointed. They said the cities where the BCCI officials are from got the games. Notably, Mohali has been hosting World Cup games since 1996. The source explained:

“They told us that 4-5 big metropolitan areas will be chosen and that there will be zones (north, south, west, east, central) where one game will be played each and Ahmedabad, which is the biggest stadium, will host the final.

It seems that only the subways and the cities where the officials come from have games. We put a lot of pressure on him, but we couldn’t get a game. It’s disappointing not to even have a practice game.” said a source quoted by PTI.

Apart from Hyderabad, all the hosts chosen for the World Cup will have five matches. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will kick off on October 5 with the highly successful clash between New Zealand and England at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad. The semifinals are scheduled for November 15 and 16, while the final will be played on November 19 in Ahmedabad.
