Team India’s own Mr. 360 Suryakumar Yadav successfully lost 15 kg from his body during his preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Suryakumar Yadav is among the senior Indian players who will be given the responsibility of helping the Indian team end their drought of winning an ICC trophy. Since 2013, Team India has reached 5 different World Cup finals but has not been successful in all of them.

Last year, Indians had a chance to win two ICC silver titles – the World Test Championship and the 50-over World Cup. Rohit Sharma’s men first lost the WTC final at the Oval in June and then lost the CWC 2023 final in November, both times against Australia.

Although Suryakumar Yadav did not feature in the WTC final, he was part of the XI that lost to Pat Cummins’ team on November 19 in Ahmedabad.

Suryakumar Yadav’s Nutritionist Observes Batsman Looks Much Thinner

Suryakumar Yadav, who had a knee injury and sports hernia ahead of IPL 2024, had struggled a lot with his fitness. He had even missed all cricket action from December to March to recover from setbacks before joining the Mumbai Indians for the league stages.

While MI failed to make it to the playoffs, Suryakumar Yadav was working very hard on his fitness, behind the scenes. His training regimen and his diet plan were all kept strict so that he could achieve the desired goal set by NCA and his nutritionist Shwetha Bhatia.

The current condition of Suryakumar Yadav’s body is very different from what we had seen before IPL 2024. Shwetha Bhatia has observed that the batsman looks much leaner, stronger and a bit muscular. Surya was able to achieve all that through a systematic supplementation diet plan and coordination between recovery rate and muscle gain rate.

“If you look at him, he looks much leaner, stronger and not very muscular, and the diet was planned with supplements to achieve that goal. Coordination between the rate of recovery and the rate of muscle gain, so we adjusted to achieve it in a record time.” – Shwetha Bhatia told PTI.

Bhatia claims that 13 of the 15 kg Surya lost were fat

During his recovery period, Suryakumar Yadav hardly did any gym training or physical activity, to say the least. Due to the medication he took after the surgery, Surya had gained weight. It happened because of the reaction to the medications he took and not because he was not on a diet.

“After recovering, Suryakumar Yadav noticeably lost 15 kg from his body and Shwetha Bhatia claimed that 13 kg was fat.”

“In total, he now weighs between 14 and 15 kg, there was a slight increase in his weight after the surgery, which is a natural medical reaction, not because he has not stopped the diet. Of the 15 kg he lost, the Dexa machine will confirm that 13 kg is fat.” – Bhatia concluded.

Surya scores 31 on his return to India

Returning to the Indian team for the first time since December 2023, Suryakumar Yadav scored 31 runs off 18 at a strike rate of 172.22. His efforts helped India achieve a target of 183 which Bangladesh failed to reach and lost the match by 60 runs.
