Virat Kohli conspicuously missed his 29th Test as he was batting superbly and in complete control. He was dismissed to Rahkheem Cornwall in the 146th. Coming into the Indian innings, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (171) and Rohit Sharma (103) hit centuries well and sewed in 229 runs for the opening partnership before Kohli stepped in to take the India lead beyond 270 runs.
