India squad announced for first Test against Bangladesh, Yash Dayal called up

On Sunday, September 8, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the Indian National Cricket Team for the first Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The first match of the two-match series between the teams will begin on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team in the first Test against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. Virat Kohli, who missed the Test series against the England National Cricket Team due to personal reasons, is back and will join the team ahead of the first game in Chennai.

Left-handed spinner Yash Dayal has received his maiden call-up to the Indian Test squad. The fast bowler impressed many with his performance in the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy. The fast bowler played for India B and took four wickets in the game that took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Rishabh Pant is also back in the Test squad for the first time since December 2022. The wicketkeeper-batsman faced a horrific accident and after returning to the team in white-ball, he will be making a comeback in red-ball cricket as well.

Pant will be the wicket-keeper of the team along with Dhruv Jurel, who will be the second wicket-keeper. Both KL Rahul and Sarfaraz Khan, who were reportedly fighting for their place in the team, have been included in the first Test squad against Bangladesh. Both of them had a decent performance in the first round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy.

Jasprit Bumrah will lead the fast bowling attack that features Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, who impressed by taking nine wickets for India A against India B in the Duleep Trophy, and Yash Dayal, who would like to grab the opportunity.

The bowling quartet of R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have also been named in the squad. The bowlers were exceptional for the team in the Test series against England and would want to make the same impact.
