India are the unquestioned favourites for this tournament but will have to do something they have never done before and that is win the competition outside their homeland. Coming into a crunch match against arch rivals and neighbours India, the last thing Pakistan needed was to lose their opening match to USA in one of the all-time shocks of this competition. Babar Azam’s men will have to seriously raise their game if they are to trouble India but that is just the kind of thing they are renowned for. They can go from the sublime to the ridiculous more often than any other team in world cricket, so while their form and preparations for this match are truly abysmal, it is not beyond them to produce some magic and stun their rivals.

Virat Kohli has a superb record against Pakistan and the India star batsman will be looking to continue that rich vein of form here. His last four scores against them are 82*, 60, 35 and 57, and after a sensational IPL campaign, his confidence is greater than ever. There is every chance he will be India’s top batsman in this one.
With scoring runs proving to be difficult on the pitches in New York, the pace bowlers will surely thrive in these conditions and Jasprit Bumrah will surely be in and around the wickets as usual.
PAKISTAN BETTING ANALYSIS
There are not many Pakistan batsmen that come into this match with particularly good form behind them nor good records against India. One man who is in fine form and has strong form against their rivals is Mohammad Rizwan. The wicketkeeper/batsman has scored two fifties in four innings, with a combined total of 197 runs across the four. He is the safest play of any of these Pakistani batsmen right now especially after a couple of half centuries in warm-up matches against Ireland also.
The bowling attack is equally difficult to rely upon right now but conditions should suit Shaheen Shah Afridi in particular. The Indian batsmen should have no issues with Pakistan’s spin options especially on these pitches, but expect Shaheen to cause the India batsmen some issues.

After Pakistan’s woeful loss to USA in their opening match, it is difficult to have any confidence in them. This is however just the type of match where they will raise their game and with this pitch likely to favour pace bowling, that could work into their favour. Winning the toss really will be key and pitch and weather conditions are almost certainly going to impact the outcome of this match heavily.
India simply have to be considered favourites but the markets are too heavy on them here. With conditions likely to favour pace bowling, the weather potentially a factor, and the toss likely to be key, expect Pakistan to make this a really competition game. They are the ones who offer value here and they should rise to the occasion as they so often do against their arch rivals.
