India vs Pakistan World Cup Venue Likely To Be Changed As Ahmedabad Remains Uncertain – Reports

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently released the schedule for the ODI World Cup 2023. The tournament will kick off with the match between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5. The final match will be played at the same venue on November 19.

The Men in Blue are scheduled to take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the world’s largest stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, October 15. However, recent reports suggest that the party’s venue among neighboring nations could change due to ongoing political tensions.

Renowned Indian sports journalist Vikrant Gupta recently stated that if the Pakistani government does not allow the team to play in Ahmedabad, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will be considered as the venue for the highly anticipated match.

“If the Pakistani government does not allow Pakistan to play India in Ahmedabad, Chennai will be used as a backup option.” Gupta said about Aaj Tak.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesperson has stated that the team’s participation in the tournament is subject to government clearance. The spokesperson further stressed that they are maintaining their stance of not playing the match against India in Ahmedabad.

“The board requires the permission of the Pakistani government for any tour to India, including party venues,” said a PCB spokesperson.

They will play where they are scheduled to play – Wasim Akram

However, the former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram He affirmed that the directive is creating an unnecessary controversy with the calendar of the World Cup.

“I don’t understand these unnecessary statements like ‘we won’t play in Ahmedabad.’ Ask the Pakistani players, they I don’t mind, they are going to play where they are programmed to play.” Akram said.
