There are just a couple of days left for the auction of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). More than 300 players will go through the tournament during the long-awaited event. A total of 1,166 players had registered for the auction before the list was whittled down to 333 for the main event.
Of the 333 players, 214 are Indian players and 119 are foreign players, including two players from partner countries: Paul van Meekeren of the Netherlands and David Wiese of Namibia. A total of 23 players have registered with the highest reserve price of Rs 2 million. Of them, three are Indian players: Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav.
The other 20 players are: Harry Brook, Travis Head, Rilee Rossouw, Steve Smith, Gerald Coetzee, Pat Cummins, Chris Woakes, Josh Inglis, Lockie Ferguson, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Adil Rashid, Rassie van der Dussen . , James Vince, Sean Abbott, Jamie Overton, David Willey, Ben Duckett, Mustafizur Rahman.
Some other big names participating in the auction include New Zealand batting sensation Rachin Ravindra, Wanindu Hasaranga, Rovman Powell, Daryl Mitchell among others. The players have been classified into different categories based on their nationalities, roles played and international status.
2022 IPL champions Gujarat Titans will enter the auction with the biggest purse (Rs 38.15 crore) as they look to replace their former captain Hardik Pandya. The Lucknow supergiants have the smallest purse – Rs 13.15 crore. Two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders have the most spaces to fill – 12.
