MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings have an unbreakable bond. MSD has played his entire life in the Yellow franchise and has led them to five trophies. Dhoni has groomed many players under him and has led the team to the playoffs in almost every season he has played.

However, with MS Dhoni returning to the yellow jersey once again in IPL 2024, many fans will want to know if this will be his last season in the cash-rich league. While only MSD knows the answer, apart from him, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was also asked about the same.

Kasi Viswanathan believed it would be his decision and the CSK captain is yet to indicate anything to the team management regarding the issue.

CSK CEO opens up about MS Dhoni’s future plans

As quoted by Times Now, Kasi Viswanathan said, “Dhoni will decide himself. He hasn’t told us anything so far and it will be totally his decision. So far he has not given us any indication either.”

MSD started with the Chennai Super Kings in the first edition of the Indian Premier League and has never parted ways with the franchise since. Notably, Dhoni was forced to switch franchises when CSK was banned from the IPL, but once the ban was lifted, he returned to the helm and guided the team to more championship wins.

MS Dhoni, also known by the name ‘Thala’, retired from international cricket in the year 2020 and is now only seen playing in the yellow jersey. MSD is the only Indian captain to have won three ICC trophies and is also the most successful captain in the Indian Premier League.

If we look at the Chennai Super Kings, the franchise has played in 14 editions of the Indian Premier League, in which it has reached the playoffs on 12 occasions and has played in the final on 10 occasions. The team management is the same as in 2008, while all the support staff are former CSK players.

The team features mostly experienced players who have retired from international cricket but are still in their prime.

With IPL 2024 set to begin in the last week of March, Chennai Super Kings will look to defend their title and become the most titled team in the cash-rich league. CSK have won five IPL trophies so far and are the joint most successful team along with Mumbai Indians.

Chennai Super Kings fielded Kiwi players Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell in the IPL 2024 auction and also strengthened their batting line-up. The team has players like Matheesha Pathirana, Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja in their bowling, who will have the responsibility of restricting the opposition batsmen.
