TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, match number 39, took place in the capital of India as Delhi Capitals (DC) hosted defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). It was a one-way game, right from the start, as RCB came out on top in the match and won the match by 9 wickets. RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and opted to field first.
They played against the same team that won against the Gujarat Titans. However, DC made three changes from their last loss against the Punjab Kings, one of them forced as Lungi Ngidi was unfit after a fatal head injury in the last match. Dushmantha Chameera, Kyle Jamieson and Sahil Parakh replaced Ngidi and Pathum Nissanka.
IPL 2026: DC vs RCB Match Result:
After being invited to bat first, DC’s hitters were down like nine pins. Sahil was the first to fall, and then KL Rahul and Sameer Rizvi were dismissed in two balls. Then, Tristan Stubbs returned without disturbing the RCB players. They were 8/6 at one point when Axar Patel also departed for a duck, followed by Nitish Rana.
Then David Miller and Abishek Porel formed a small 35-run partnership; the former was dismissed for 19 runs as DC were left struggling at 43/7. After that, Kyle Jamieson and Porel crossed the 50-run mark and anchored the innings a bit. But Jamieson was also dismissed as the home team collapsed at 62/8.
DC were bowled out for 75 runs, with Abishek Porel scoring the highest runs for the Capitals as he was the last man to be dismissed for 30 runs. Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar wreaked havoc by dismantling DC’s batting, picking a total of 7 wickets between them.
Coming out in pursuit, the reigning champions had an excellent start to the game, as Jacob Bethell fired with all his guns from the first step. He scored a stunning 20 off 10 balls, and then Devdutt Padikkal scored 34 off 13, and Virat Kohli scored 23 runs, as both batsmen remained unbeaten and the Bengaluru team chased down the total in 6.3 overs.
