"We have early wickets": Rajat Patidar credits RCB’s pace attack after dominating win against DC in IPL 2026

Royal Challengers Bengaluru started this IPL season as the defending champions of the competition and continued to maintain their promising form from the last season of the competition. The Challengers won their first IPL title under the leadership of captain Rajat Patidar after no one imagined that the inexperienced captain would hand the Red Devils their first trophy.

Having started from where they left Bengaluru, they held on to their promising streak and dominated most of their opposition. RCB have managed to win six of their first eight matches in the tournament and are currently second in the points table with 12 points, just one less than table leaders Punjab Kings, who have played one match less than them and are still at the top of the table with an unbeaten run.

RCB captain Rajat Patidar’s promising leadership continues in the IPL as his team claims another victory in its title defence. Patidar has attributed the victory to his team’s bowlers, who peaked in the powerplay itself.

DC’s batsmen struggled to thrive against the opening kill of Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

The Delhi Capitals have struggled with the bat against the tough lines of the RCB batsmen. Royal Challengers Bengaluru started with the combination of experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar produced three wickets with the new ball while swinging it to dimensions and on the other hand, Josh Hazlewood hit the hard length more frequently, who also made the same number of breakthroughs.

After recovering, Josh Hazlewood picked the last wicket with the dismissal of Abhishek Porel, who was the last wicket to fall when Hazlewood smashed one into the middle stump, ending his innings with 75 runs.

Rajat Patidar extends winning percentage as IPL captain

Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar excelled in the captaincy role last season. He was a young captain and earned the trust of all his fans after the franchise’s outstanding performance.

Patidar, now with just two losses this season, has extended his winning streak and has himself won 16 of his 21 matches in IPL history. He has a winning percentage of 76% in the IPL as he seems to be rewriting IPL history on his own.

All credit goes to the bowlers, Bhuvi and Hazlewood-Rajat Patidar.

“Of course. Even I am surprised by how Wicket played,” said RCB captain Rajat Patidar when asked if it was a sweet revenge by RCB against their rival.

“All the credit goes to the bowlers, Bhuvi and Hazlewood. They hit the right areas. The swing was average but the good thing was that we got early wickets and that kept us in the driver’s seat,” he added.

“It was really good to see the way Suyash bowled, from stump to stump. It is very important to follow your routines, we are taking it one game at a time. Different players are coming up and doing well. In T20 cricket, on flat pitches you need the bowling, because only bowlers can win tournaments,” he added.
