“IPL is a great way to keep learning, but…” – Brad Haddin wants Cameron Green to skip the IPL

Former Australian player Brad Haddin shared valuable tips with all-rounder Cameron Green. He suggested that the lanky cricketer needs to make some sacrifices to continue peaking in Test cricket.

Cameron Green has been one of the best things to happen to Australia in Test cricket. His presence has allowed the team led by Pat Cummins to find the perfect balance and combination. It’s fair to say that he has played a big role in the team’s success of late.

Cameron Green has contributed equally well with bat and ball in Test cricket. The all-rounder is touted as the next big thing in Australian cricket, but one of the things that has caused concern is the amount of cricket he plays.

Apart from Australian cricket, Cameron Green plays in the IPL. He played in IPL 2023 and now he was traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore, which was the highest transfer fee in the history of the league. He will earn Rs 17.5 crore.

Brad Haddin said Cameron Green should look at Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, who skipped the IPL to prioritize Test cricket. He admitted that IPL is a great learning but to continue peaking he needs to manage his workload. Speaking to Fox Cricket, he explained:

“If you look at the three fast bowlers (Cummins, Hazlewood, Starc), they have had periods where they did not participate in the IPL and prioritized Test cricket and that is something that, at times, Cameron Green could have what to do depending on your workload. I know IPL is a great way to keep learning, but if the workload increases too much, he will have to make some sacrifices to continue peaking in Test cricket.”

He is still just a young man finding his feet at the international level – Brad Haddin on Cameron Green

Brad Haddin further said that playing in England and India was the best part of Cameron Green’s career. He added that he is young in international cricket and that he should still learn. He added:

“If you look at his short career to date, I don’t think he has as difficult a period as the last 6 or 7 months. I think she spent most of the six months away from home.”

“He is still just a young man who is finding his place at the international level. He will now have a good opportunity to sit down and reflect on it.”

Cameron Green will next be seen in action when Australia takes on Pakistan in the Test series, starting December 14.
