Irfan Pathan has revealed his pick for the best catch between the catches of MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane during the recently concluded match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
CSK, on Tuesday (March 26), thrashed GT by 63 runs to extend their winning start in the ongoing IPL 2024. With CSK and GT clashing for the first time since last year’s final, many expected the game to be a thriller. However, CSK comprehensively outperformed the 2022 champions and registered their second win in as many matches this season.
Asked to bat first, the Chennai-based team amassed a grand total of 206 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs with Shivam Dube scoring a fine half-century. Openers Rachin Ravindra (46) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (46) set the platform for the big total before Dube’s 22-ball fifty helped CSK rack up the total to over 200.
In response, GT ended their innings with a modest total of 143 for 8. The Gujarat-based team never looked in a position to chase the total as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Apart from Sai Sudharsan (37), no other GT batsman could reach the 30-run mark. For CSK, Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande got two wickets each.
Irfan Pathan chooses the best catch:
During the game, MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane took impressive catches. MS Dhoni was the first to do it. In the eighth final, He made a full jump to his right side to catch the ball while it was in the air and returned it to Vijay Shankar..
Later, in the 12th, Rahane came up with a brilliant effort to give back to David Miller.. After Miller bowled a hard, flat shot towards mid-wicket, Rahane lunged forward to complete a sensational catch. And shortly after the game ended, Irfan Pathan took to X (formerly Twitter) to claim that he would choose Rahane’s catch over Dhoni’s, writing: “Would you choose Dhoni’s catch or Rahane’s catch? My choice is Rahane, yours?
