Kartik Tyagi cheats on Sanju Samson in CSK-KKR clash

Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Kartik Tyagi has used his pace to leave Sanju Samson fooled as he broke through his defense and rattled the stumps. This led to the dismissal of the CSK opener, who missed a half-century to follow up his previous match’s century.

Chennai Super Kings bought Sanju Samson with the hope that he would add immense power to their top order and at the same time be an alternative wicketkeeper in the side. But Samson, on the other hand, turned out to be their main gloveman in the absence of MS Dhoni, and is now looking to dominate with the bat.

Having played a very good knock in the last match against Delhi Capitals, Samson was the player of the match with a huge unbeaten century which took the team to a huge score and helped CSK get their first points in IPL 2026.

Kartik Tyagi surprises Sanju Samson with his pace of delivery

After an early kill from Ayush Mhatre, Sanju Samson single-handedly looked to take the Chennai innings deeper into the game. However, he was not well supported by Dewald Brevis, who played his first game with the bat this season.

As Samson had to take on the attack alone, he hit Kartik Tyagi and got an early look at his slower ball outside off stump. Samson looked to do the same in consecutive deliveries, but this time Tyagi had unleashed his best weapon.

The young pacer knows how to bowl fast, and he bowled one against the stumps at a speed of 148 kmph. Samson was fooled by the immense pace as Tyagi opted for the ‘you miss, I bat’ policy, dismantling the batsman’s leg stump.

Sanju Samson enters the Orange Cap classification

Chennai opening batsman Sanju Samson has slowly backed up to revive his incredible form from the ICC T20 World Cup last month. Sanju’s century gave him the platform and also the confidence to express himself and his shooting game at the top of the order.

After that huge century, Samson backed himself up and scored 48 well-made runs while reaching 150. Just as he started to accelerate in the innings, Tyagi gave KKR the breakthrough.

However, despite his three single-digit scores, an unbeaten century and now a lost half-century, Samson has amassed 185 runs in five matches in this IPL season. He now sits fifth on the Orange Cap board, replacing RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

CSK target another 200+ in total at Chepauk

The Chennai Super Kings were once called an invincible team at their home at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The real reasons for the success were the conducive conditions for spin and the huge enthusiasm of the CSK fans in Chepauk.

In the previous two matches they played at this venue of the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the Chennai Super Kings scored more than 200 runs on both occasions. They had also given away more than 200 runs, as the Punjab Kings chased the target of a double century against them.

After a promising start to the match with massive powerplay scoring, CSK batsmen would also try to take the score beyond 200 on this occasion. KKR have not shown the caliber to chase such big totals in this edition of the IPL.
