Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Abhishek Nayar was seen locked in a heated exchange with the fourth umpire on the sidelines of the MA Chidambaram Stadium after CSK batsmen continued to waste time with his players running between overs with drinks and props.
KKR named Abhishek Nayar as replacement for former head coach Chandrakanth Pandit. Under Nayar’s leadership, they revamped their team ahead of the IPL 2026 season; However, their plans have not gone very well so far this season.
Although widely known for his composure and calm demeanor, the KKR head coach was seen in his never-before-agitated avatar, as a result of which he got into a heated confrontation with the referee.

However, what bothered Abhishek Nayar was that CSK’s water boys were carrying soft drinks along with their gloves. This was a waste of time and Nayar complained to the fourth umpire, hoping that the umpires could intervene in the event.
He was agitated by this delay, which would have brought the game to a stage where one less fielder could only stand outside the 30-yard circle. I wasn’t happy with the way the referees conducted the game.
Finally, Kolkata Knight Riders were penalized for not finishing within the designated time. This led to Ajinkya Rahane spreading the field much less.
