Tilak Varma comes up with a bullet throw to run out Nitish Rana

Tilak Varma, on Saturday (May 11), showcased his fielding skills as he outplayed Nitish Rana with a brilliant throw in the ongoing game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Nitish Rana and Andre Russell joined hands in the ninth over as Kolkata Knight Riders were reeling at 77 for 4. The duo took the score past the 100-run mark for the hosts and were well set. And just when it looked like they were going to change gears, Tilak Varma broke the stand sending Nitish Rana back.

On the last ball of the 12th over, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a full toss just outside leg. Nitish Rana made space for himself before directing the ball towards the point. He took a couple of steps forward to run, but he didn’t seem too confident.

Russell, however, made up his mind and set off for the single. After seeing Russell run towards the striker’s end, a hesitant Nitish Rana quickly changed his mind and set about completing the single. However, the moment of hesitation cost him his wicket as he failed to return to the crease safely.

As Rana prepared to run, Tilak Varma picked up the ball and hit the stumps with a shot put to the non-striker’s side. The left-handed batsman departed after scoring 33 runs off 23 balls and sharing a 39-run stand with Russell for the fifth wicket.
