Rahul Chahar, Sunil Narine

Continuing his impressive run with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Sunil Narine, on Friday (April 26), impressed once again in the ongoing game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens.

The left-handed batsman scored 71 runs off just 32 balls with the help of 9 fours and four sixes. He got going hitting Sam Curran for a brilliant four in the first over and didn’t look back. When the powerplay ended, Sunil Narine had raced to 38 runs off just 15 balls.

He completed his fifty off just 23 balls in the eighth over. Sunil Narine’s knock finally came to an end in the 11th over when he was dismissed by Rahul Chahar. The leg-spinner made a mistake and Narine ended up taking the shot straight to Jonny Bairstow at long range. And as soon as Bairstow took the catch, Rahul Chahar came up with an interesting gesture. The PBKS spinner was seen turning towards Narine with a crossed hand gesture.

Apart from scoring 71 runs, Sunil Narine also shared a huge stand of 138 runs with fellow opener Phil Salt for the first wicket. Salt departed in the 13th over after scoring 75 runs off just 37 balls with the help of six fours and as many sixes. Talking about the game, KKR ended their innings with a mammoth total of 261/6.

KKR are hoping for their sixth win tonight. The two-time IPL champions are currently second in the points table with five wins from seven matches. A win tonight will bring them even closer to the playoffs. PBKS, for its part, is in ninth place in the points table with only two wins in eight games. PBKS needs a notable turnaround to advance to the league stage for the first time since 2014.
