Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner Shah Rukh Khan was elated with the way his team performed in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The match took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Kolkata Knight Riders continued their dominance even in the final of IPL 2024 as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets to claim their third title. It was a collective effort with bat and ball as they first bundled out the opponents for 113 runs and then chased down the target in 11 overs.

Emotions were high inside the Kolkata Knight Riders camp. This was quite evident on the face of its owner Shah Rukh Khan. The Bollywood actor burst into joy as he first celebrated with his fans and then took a victory lap on the ground.

However, after that, he made sure to poke fun at Harshit Rana as well. The Bollywood actor was seen imitating the pacer’s controversial flying kiss celebration.

Here is the video:

For the unversed, Harshit Rana gave an aggressive flying kiss to Mayank Agarwal during the match against SRH in the league stage. After that, he was banned and then the same kind of celebration also led to his one-match suspension in IPL 2024.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL 2024 journey

Kolkata Knight Riders had finished seventh in the previous two seasons of the Indian Premier League and decided to make some significant changes to the team to improve their performance in IPL 2024.

The two major bold steps taken by the franchise were hiring Gautam Gambhir as a mentor and spending a whopping Rs 24.75 crore to acquire the services of champion left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc. Gambhir’s inclusion did wonders for the team and Starc, albeit inconsistently, put in some crucial performances for the team.

Pairing up with Gautam Gambhir, Chandrakant Pandit and Abhishek Nayar also brought out the best in captain Shreyas Iyer, who did an excellent job in the field and got his decision making right.

West Indies star Sunil Narine activated his beast mode during the season and showed exceptional cricket with the bat while opening the innings and was equally effective with the ball. In the batting department, along with Narine, Phil Salt, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer shined and on the bowling side, Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana were absolutely wonderful.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-round performance saw them finish at the number 1 spot in the points table with 9 wins and 3 losses. They finished their group stage campaign with a record net run rate of 1.428 and easily won Qualifier 1 to enter the summit clash, before defeating SRH once again and winning the IPL 2024 trophy in the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai.
