MS Dhoni, on Friday (April 19), once again came up with a brilliant cameo to propel Chennai Super Kings to a total of over 170 against Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing 34th game of IPL 2024.
On a pitch where most of his teammates struggled to play at a good pace, MS Dhoni showed why he is widely regarded as one of the greatest finishers in the history of the game. The former India and CSK captain came out to bat in the 18th over when CSK were 141 for 6.
The 175-run mark seemed difficult for CSK at that time. However, anything is possible when MS Dhoni is in the crease and he proved it again by hitting an unbeaten 28 runs off just nine balls. His innings were filled with three fours and two sixes.
In the 19th over, MS Dhoni hit Mohsin Khan for six and four before taking Yash Thakur to the cleaners in the final over. The veteran hit the young pacer for a six and two fours to take CSK to 175. MS Dhoni’s second six was a massive knock of 101 metres. The ball was in the slot and MS Dhoni cleared his front leg before hitting the huge six.

Earlier in the match, Ravindra Jadeja’s fifty goals helped CSK recover from a poor start. The all-rounder remained unbeaten with 57 off 40 balls. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has been in impressive form in this IPL and has made a big impact with his batting in the death overs.
Even in the last match against Mumbai Indians, he smashed 20 runs off just four balls with the help of three sixes in a row. His knock helped CSK post a total of over 200 and ultimately made the difference as CSK won the game by exactly 20 runs.
