Pakistan National Cricket Team’s main left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir posted a tweet in support of veteran batsman Fakhar Zaman, who was recently dropped from the white-ball team.
Mohammad Amir’s tweet in support of Fakhar Zaman could trigger the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as president Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear that players cannot question the selection committee’s decisions.
Fakhar Zaman fell after posting a tweet in support of Babar Azam
Fakhar Zaman recently made headlines for posting a tweet in favor of Babar Azam when he was about to be dropped from the Test squad for the second and third matches against the England national cricket team.
In his tweet, Fakhar stated that Babar, who is among the all-time greats, should not be dropped as it would send a negative message to the entire team. He also compared Babar’s poor run of form to that of Virat Kohli, mentioning that the Indian selectors did not drop the superstar batsman.
This act of Fakhar did not go down well with the Pakistan Cricket Board, which issued a show cause notice to the batsman, demanding an explanation. In response, the star batsman said he respects PCB but Babar “deserved a chance in tough times”.
Fakhar Zaman has already faced fallout from his tweet as he was dropped from the Pakistan squad and left out of the list of centrally contracted players.
At the press conference, Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that Fakhar’s dispute with the PCB over the tweet, as well as his failure to pass the fitness test, led to his omission.
I am surprised Fakhar Zaman is not in the team – Mohammad Amir
After Fakhar Zaman’s snub, Mohammad Amir took to his official nickname X to question the PCB selection committee’s decision to drop the batsman. He expressed surprise over the batsman’s snub as he considers Fakhar the only impact player in the white-ball team.
“I’m surprised @FakharZamanLive is not in the team. He is the only impact player we have in white-ball cricket,” Pakistan National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir wrote on X.
I’m surprised that @FtokhtorztometrotonorthlYovmy He’s not on the team. He is the only impact player we have in white-ball cricket.

Notably, Mohammad Amir himself has been dropped from the Pakistan team. He was not picked in any of the four teams selected for the tours of Australia and Zimbabwe for the ODI and T20I series.
Other notable names who are not part of the white-ball teams are Imam-ul-Haq, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf and Usama Mir.
If they lose, I myself will take all the anger of the fans – Mohsin Naqvi
In the press conference where Mohammad Rizwan was named Pakistan’s new white-ball captain, Mohsin Naqvi also said that he would take all the blame if the team loses the upcoming matches. He said:
“If they lose, I will take all the anger of the fans. If they win, the credit will be theirs.”
Furthermore, new selector Aaqib Javed said that the Pakistan national cricket team does not have any set formula for white-ball cricket and will continue to adapt. He said:
“There is no specific formula. You need to create conditions that favor the home team. Physical fitness and skills are also important, but it also depends on the opponent you face.”
