It feels like we’re coming to the end of an era for this group of New Zealand players, who are staring at a group stage exit regardless of the result here against Uganda, following runner-up and semi-final finishes across the last two ICC T20 World Cup competitions.

NEW ZEALAND FORM: WITHOUT A WIN IN THREE AND FACING ELIMINATION

Defeat against Afghanistan by 84 runs left New Zealand in big trouble and that has since been followed up by a narrow 13-run loss at the hands of West Indies, leaving the Black Caps without a point to their name in the group with just two games left to play and staring at an early flight home from the tournament.

UGANDA FORM: ANOTHER BATTING CALAMITY LEAVES UGANDA ALL BUT OUT OF CONTENTION

Once again, Uganda found themselves bowled out for an embarrassing score, this time 39 which represents the joint-lowest total at a Men’s T20 World Cup, leading to a 134-run defeat at the hands of West Indies, undoing all the good work they had cultivated from beating Papua New Guinea earlier in the group stage.

NEW ZEALAND BETTING ANALYSIS

Against an opponent who have struggled so badly with the bat across the competition, you’d expect Trent Boult to be one of a number of New Zealand bowlers to capitalise. Boult’s left-arm pace has seen him accumulate five wickets across his two appearances so far. Expect Boult to prove far too strong for Uganda and back him to accrue 2+ wickets via the ‘Bowler Milestones’ market.

Another bowler likely to profit is right-arm quick Lockie Ferguson. Uganda’s batters won’t be used to facing a bowler of Ferguson’s speed and backing him to gain over 1.5 match wickets is another play well worth making.

Kane Williamson’s quality should come to the fore with the bat and the Black Caps star will no doubt be desperate to make a big contribution even with his side on the brink of elimination. Bettors looking for a riskier option that offers a higher return can back Williamson to finish as New Zealand’s top batter over the course of this match.

UGANDA BETTING ANALYSIS

It’s hard to see Uganda not finding it hard once again from a batting perspective and losing plenty of wickets regardless of whether they are setting or chasing a target is likely. Therefore, back New Zealand to record the higher opening partnership between the two nations and for Uganda to score under 10.5 runs for their first wicket.

Captain Brian Masaba has impressed with the ball, taking over 1.5 match wickets in two of Uganda’s three group stage fixtures so far. Backing him to achieve that feat once again this time round is worth considering, although a safer bet would be perhaps backing him to take 1+ wicket via the ‘Bowler Milestones’ market instead.

NEW ZEALAND VS UGANDA EXPERT PREDICTION

New Zealand have no excuse not to record a comprehensive victory here against Uganda, despite their struggles across this ICC T20 World Cup so far. However, just backing the Black Caps to win outright holds very little value from a betting point of view with them being understandably overwhelming favourites.

Instead, focus on an individual player, specifically Trent Boult. The left-arm pacer is consistently potent, offers a clear point of difference and is likely to wind up too good for his opponents across this encounter. Expect him to pick up at least a couple of wickets.

NEW ZEALAND VS UGANDA TOP TIP: TRENT BOULT TO TAKE 2+ WICKETS
