Pakistan, on Monday (May 6), unveiled its jersey for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The premier tournament is scheduled to be played from June 1 to 29 in the United States of America and the Caribbean.

With less than a month left for the much-awaited World Cup to begin, Pakistan has launched the jersey it will wear during the competition. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a video featuring captain Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and others in the new jersey.

Pakistan’s new jersey is called Matrix jersey. PCB released the video with the caption ‘Lapait khud per watan ka parcham, baja de danka, macha de shoor’ which roughly translates to wearing the national color and making noise.

Pakistan will hope that the new jersey also changes their fortunes and goes all the way in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The last few months have been very tough for Pakistan cricket. It all started with their disappointing Asian Cup campaign. An exit in the league stage of the ODI World Cup followed before Babar Azam was sacked as captain in all three formats.

Under new Test captain Shan Masood, Pakistan were whitewashed in the three-match Test series in Australia. It was followed by a 4-1 defeat against New Zealand in T20Is under new T20I captain Shaheen Afridi. Recently, Babar Azam was reinstated as Pakistan’s T20I captain and began his new tenure with a 2-2 draw in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home.

Pakistan, strong contenders for the T20 World Cup:

Although Pakistan have failed to impress in recent times, they will be one of the strong contenders for the T20 World Cup 2024. In the last edition of the tournament, the Men in Green qualified for the final before losing the decider against England. They will look to go all the way this year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan is yet to announce its team for the World Cup. Before the World Cup, they will play the T20I series against Ireland and England this month. They will play three T20Is against Ireland and four against England. They are scheduled to begin their World Cup campaign on June 6.
