Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has had a tremendously poor touch and has failed to perform with the willow, despite having excelled as captain, winning four of his six matches this season.
Rajasthan Royals named him captain of the franchise after Sanju Samson moved to CSK. However, many had argued at the time that Indian youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal was a better candidate to be named team captain.

Parag’s poor form continues in IPL 2026 as he was once again dismissed early after his team got off to a poor start following the dismissal of the top-order batsmen within the powerplay.
Prince Yadav earlier left Parag at the border; He could not add many runs as he was dismissed for just 20 runs, and that too after facing 19 balls and getting off to a very slow start.
Parag tried to shift one over the mid-wicket boundary but couldn’t take it in the direction he intended and instead pushed it too far, where Nicholas Pooran easily trapped it in the deep.

Meanwhile, his domestic run with Assam has also not been impressive and he has also been dropped from the Indian side. The 24-year-old cricketer has accumulated only 81 runs after playing 7 matches in the season.
In seven innings, Parag scored 14 against CSK, 8 against GT, 20 against MI, 3 against RCB, 4 against Sunrisers and 12 against KKR till today. He has failed when it mattered most to his team.
