Partial decision for Arjun Tendulkar? Sachin’s son to join new Mumbai T20 league team

Arjun Tendulkar is all set to try his luck in the upcoming player auction for the upcoming Mumbai T20 League. Despite representing Goa in domestic cricket, the bowling all-rounder is eligible to enter the auction pool.

Currently, Arjun Tendulkar is with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the ongoing IPL 2026 season. He joined the franchise ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Due to lack of playing time during his stay with Mumbai Indians (MI), Arjun Tendulkar shifted his IPL base to Lucknow.

The 26-year-old bowler-batsman is originally from Mumbai, but to get regular opportunities, he has been representing Goa in the national tournament. To further his professional cricket career, the son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar also left Mumbai Indians. Although he is yet to play his first match for the Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing season.

Arjun Tendulkar will have the highest price at the auction

According to a report in Times of India, as a Ranji Trophy player, Arjun will participate in the Mumbai T20 League auction with the highest base price of INR 5 lakh. The player auction is scheduled for May 2.

As per the mandates of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), a player, who is originally from Mumbai but represents a different organisation, must undergo a cooling-off period of one year before submitting his name in the franchise league auction. But in Arjun’s case, the rule will not be applicable as he did not participate in the T20 leagues of his respective states.

Why BCCI rule won’t apply to Arjun Tendulkar?

“To maintain concentration and avoid overexertion, each player is allowed to participate in only one officially recognized cricket league, excluding the Indian Premier League (IPL), for 12 months from the conclusion of the tournament in which he last participated,” according to the BCCI guideline.

“Since they did not participate in the T20 league organized by their respective teams’ association, as per BCCI rules, they are eligible to participate in the Mumbai T20 League,” MCA Secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar told the media on Wednesday.

Along with Arjun Tendulkar, another Mumbai-born Siddharth Adhatrao, who played for Pondicherry in domestic cricket in the recent past, has also been given permission to be part of the upcoming Mumbai T20 League auction.

The MCA secretary further informed that Siddharth will return to Mumbai. “I just want to enjoy Mumbai cricket, be it first-class, T20 Mumbai or maidan,” said Siddharth Adhatrao.

Several stars will appear in the T20 league

It is officially announced that the fourth season of the regional franchise league is ready for a successful return with the auction scheduled for May 2, 2026.

Featuring top stars like Suryakumar Yadav (Triumph Knights), Shreyas Iyer (SoBo Mumbai Falcons), Shivam Dube (ARCS Andheri), Yashasvi Jaiswal (Bandra Blasters) and Sarfaraz Khan (Aakash Tigers). In the previous season, Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals claimed the crown, defeating the Shreyas Iyer-led Mumbai Falcons at the Wankhede Stadium.
