"PSL cheated…": Aakash Chopra reacts as Blessing Muzarabani’s agent exposes PCBs

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra bluntly criticized the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their handling of the Blessing Muzarabani episode.

The entire Blessing Muzarabani controversy has now become a big talking point in the cricket world, and things are getting more complicated with each passing day. It was just the Zimbabwe fast bowler’s simple decision to choose IPL 2026 instead of PSL 2026, but now it has turned into a huge controversy.

Blessing Muzarabani has been banned for two years by the PCB after he left PSL 2026 and joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL 2026, saying that the bowler did not honor his commitment to the PSL.

The cricket pandit further explained that a player needs a proper signed contract to get a no-objection certificate (NOC) from his home board. Without the NOC, players cannot officially confirm their participation in any league, for which they need a written agreement.

Since the Islamabad United team did not give any contract to Blessing Muzarabani, he could not even apply for the NOC at that time. During this time, KKR approached the Zimbabwean star with a suitable offer and clear documentation. So, he accepted it and moved on to the IPL.

Aakash Chopra describes PSL’s punishment of Muzarabani as severe

Chopra believes this situation has been mishandled and questioned the PSL and PCB on how a player can be blamed for breaking a contract that was never signed. He also described the punishment imposed on the bowler as very harsh.

The cricket pandit further explained, “They say, Khisyani Billi Khamma Night. This is absolutely correct. That saying is in the right place. Why? Because you did not sign the contract. Because you did not send the agreement. How will what was not sent be signed? And it is really harsh. For two reasons. First, ban for two years. This is usually a very harsh thing. Where your administrative error is that you do not send a contract.”

He didn’t cheat: Chopra defends Muzarabani

Muzarabani has faced strong criticism, with many accusing him of betraying the PSL, and the commentator harshly criticized those who blame him without knowing all the facts.

Chopra concluded by saying, “And secondly, the amount of hate the poor guy is getting on social media. Hate is also useless these days. The poor guy is getting so much hate that he has cheated the Pakistan Super League. He didn’t cheat. This is not a deal. That’s the reality.”
