Mumbai Indians (MI) pinch-bowler Raghu Sharma found a unique way to celebrate a wicket. He made his IPL debut this season for MI this season and claimed his first wicket for the team against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Raghu took the wicket when LSG was in control of the match in the first innings at the Wankhede Stadium.
LSG middle-order batsman Akshat Raghuwanshi departed against MI recruit Raghu Sharma. As part of the celebration, Raghu took out a paper from his pocket and held it. In a funny gesture, Mumbai Indians stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav tried to read the newspaper.

MI bowler Raghu Sharma celebrated his first wicket in a unique way
In 2025, Abhishek Sharma did a similar act, but for a different cause. During the IPL 2025 season, Sharma celebrated his 40-ball century for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Punjab Kings, revealing a note that read “This one is for Orange Army”.
LSG got off to a good start against MI
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batsmen have started their innings well, with their opener Mitchell Marsh as one of their openers. Josh Inglis was the other half of LSG’s starting pair for tonight’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI).
There was some grass on the Wankhede stadium lawn. Due to the touch of grass on the red dirt field, the players got an extra bounce with the new ball. But due to the calculated and aggressive batting of the LSG openers, Mumbai Indians stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav had to change tactics quickly.
Yadav brought in Afghan spinner Allah Ghazanfar in the third over of the first innings, replacing pacer Trent Boult, and it proved fruitful when LSG opener Josh Inglis was caught in the hands of Suryakumar Yadav.
In the next over, instead of slowing down, Mitchell Marsh was hit by Jasprit Bumrah for 21 runs in the fourth over. In the fifth over, Will Jacks leaked 21 runs. At the end of the powerplay, LSG scored 90 runs for 1, which is their highest powerplay total this season. Nicholas Pooran was sent in as LSG’s number three batsman and he proved instantly effective for them.

It is important to note that Hardik Pandya will not play in tonight’s match. In place of Pandya, Yadav is the stand-in captain of Mumbai Indians. The franchise informed that due to a back spasm, their regular skipper will not participate in the MI vs LSG IPL 2026 contest.
