Former spinner Pragyan Ojha feels that Rohit Sharma is still not over the incident that broke the hearts of millions of Indians on November 19.

Pragyan Ojha’s comments on Rohit Sharma came after the Indian captain delivered one of the best knocks in the history of the ICC T20 World Cup. Rohit was the catalyst behind Team India’s dominant and emphatic victory over bitter rivals Australia, a team that has caused them a lot of pain in the recent past.

Rohit Sharma’s stupendous comeback after the CWC 2023 final

Last year, Rohit Sharma’s Men in Blue suffered two consecutive setbacks. If we look closely at his career, Rohit never faced such conundrums in terms of winning trophies. In the Indian Premier League, he is the most successful captain along with Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni with 5 IPL trophies.

Rohit Sharma’s beginning of life as captain was filled with roses and daffodils as he won championship after championship. But in the last few years of his cricket career as captain, Rohit’s route seems to be full of horns. He had the opportunity to become one of India’s greatest captains but was denied by Pat Cummins’ Australian team.

It will be fair to say that Rohit Sharma has been saving all his emotions for the big stages and he burst out at just the right time. Yesterday at the Darren Sammy Stadium in Saint Lucia, Rohit not only showed off his A-game but also gave a glimpse of his destructive self that disappeared.

More importantly, it showed us all what could have happened on November 19 if Travis Head hadn’t made that diving catch. Rohit Sharma would have decimated whether the Australians and India could have posted anything more than 241 runs.

However, Rohit Sharma played a pivotal role in India’s presence in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 WC 2024. They will face England in a replay of the 2022 World T20, when the two teams faced each other at the same venue. Back then, the Three Lions had won the contest, but will the Indians level things up again? That remains to be seen.

What did Pragyan Ojha say?

After seeing Rohit Sharma’s devastation of Australia yesterday, Pragyan Ojha took to X (formerly Twitter) and spoke out. He made a bold statement about Rohit not being able to get over the defeat in the World Cup final and that is why he channeled his anger into yesterday’s hit.

Pragyan Ojha wrote that Rohit Sharma was able to show his dedication to win and determination to prove himself after the CWC final defeat. The fact that Rohit is still injured and still hurting from what Australia did to them on November 19 is the reason why the right-hander bowled a 41-ball, 92-run knock at a strike rate of over 220.

“Who says men move on! Rohit, with his bat and imposing presence against Australia yesterday, epitomized their dedication on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Keep shining, Team India! We will always be proud of you !” – Pragyan Ojha wrote via X.
