Yashasvi Jaiswal, on Wednesday (May 15), could not start with the bat as he was bowled cleanly by Sam Curran in the ongoing game between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

With Jos Buttler returning home to prepare for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan and the T20 World Cup, Yashasvi Jaiswal came out to open the innings with Tom Kohler-Cadmore. The onus of giving the Royals a good start fell on the left-handed batsman after his captain Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first.

Yashasvi Jaiswal started on a positive note by hitting the first ball of the game for a four. However, Sam Curran bounced back in style by dismissing the Royals’ opener three balls later to give his team a breakthrough. It was a long ball from the PBKS captain who came forward at the last moment. Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to advance but ended up inside carrying the ball to the stumps. After picking the wicket, Curran went on an aggressive celebratory run.

At the time of writing this report, the Royals were 27 for 1 in the fourth over. The Royals will be desperate to win the current game to get back to winning ways and increase their chances of finishing in the top two. Not long ago, it looked like they would finish the league stage at the top of the table.

They had won eight of their first nine games before suffering three games in a row. The inaugural IPL winners will also look to gain momentum with them ahead of the playoffs. PBKS, on the other hand, is already eliminated from the competition and only has to play for pride. The Punjab-based team would look to exit the competition on a winning note.
