RR vs PBKS: Watch: Trent Boult’s tense but million-dollar reaction as Yuzvendra Chahal took the whirlwind

Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Trent Boult was once again among the wickets in the first over of the game. He gave his team a breakthrough in the ongoing game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

After registering a total of just 144 runs on the board, Rajasthan Royals got off to a great start with the ball, thanks to Trent Boult. The fast bowler was hit by Prabhsimran Singh for a four, but he made sure to take revenge brilliantly and removed the batsman.

On the fourth ball of the first innings, Trent Boult bowled a short ball which Prabhsimran Singh tried to put away. He didn’t get the right connection and ended up getting the top edge which flew towards the short third man at Guwahati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

Yuzvendra Chahal, who was posted there, backed away and played a brilliant reverse cup catch. With the way the leg spinner was moving, it looked like he was nervous because he was shaking a little before taking it but somehow he managed to take it.

When the ball went up, Trent Boult didn’t look confident either, considering Yuzvendra Chahal’s history of dropping catches. However, when the catch was made, the fast bowler had a relieved reaction and the video of the incident went viral.

Prabhsimran Singh managed only 6 runs off 4 balls. This was the sixth time that Trent Boult picked a wicket in the first over of the innings in the ongoing IPL. Overall, in IPL 2024, he bowled 13 first overs and claimed 6 wickets at an average of 10.33 and a strike rate of 13. He also has an economy of 4.77 in the first overs.

Notably, no other bowler apart from Trent Boult has picked more than three wickets in the first over this season. The quick bowled three overs in the game and returned with figures of 1/27. But his efforts went in vain as Rajasthan Royals lost the game by 5 wickets.

We needed a few more runs – Sanju Samson after the loss to PBKS

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson admitted that they were 10-15 runs short with the ball and also talked about losing 4 games in a row. He said they must accept their failures and added that they must show character to move forward. He explained:

“We needed a few more runs. I think we were 10-15 runs short. It was sort of a 160 wicket. We would have easily got over 160 (if we had played better), that’s where we lost the game. It would have been nice to have a more bowling option. I’m getting used to five quality bowlers.

“We have to sit back and accept that we are going through failures, that we have lost four games in a row. We have to find out what is not working for us as a team. Someone needs to step up, we have so many match winners.” in the team. This is the time when we have to show character,” he concluded.
