Sanju Samson performs an MS Dhoni-style knock to dismiss Shubman Gill in CSK vs GT clash

Sanju Samson dismissed Shubman Gill with a classy flick to the leg side as CSK fans get a glimpse of their veteran gloveman MS Dhoni in their new wicketkeeper.

Chennai Super Kings had a very unconvincing start to their innings, and their top order, including Sanju Samson, collapsed in no time. After the first wickets fell, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad added stability to the team with a splendid batting innings.

Coming in with the ball, the CSK bowlers were unable to trouble the solid GT openers who scored a huge 100+ partnership in the last game. However, this time Shubman Gill took charge, unlike the last match.

Spectacular work behind the stumps by Sanju Samson; Shubman Gill dismissed after confident start

Shubman Gill gave his team a solid start along with Sai Sudharsan, the centurion from the previous game. Having taken on the responsibility of attacking, Gill scored 33 off just 23 balls in the 58-run stand for the first wicket.

With just 100 more runs needed, CSK were desperate for a breakthrough and introduced Noor Ahmad into the attack. Noor bowled probably one of the worst balls of the innings down the leg and Gill missed a quick shot.

Sanju Samson did a remarkable job behind the stumps as he whipped the bails in an instant as Gill lifted his foot slightly in the air. This was very quick from the CSK goalkeeper, showing glimpses of the legendary gloveman in yellow.

In-form Sai Sudharsan stands between CSK and 2 points

Gujarat Titans batsman Sai Sudharsan has been in top form in this edition of the IPL. He has created some beautiful innings for the Titans, although not always in winning causes, unlike last season where he played more winning innings.

Sudharsan, who scored a magnificent hundred at Chinnaswamy in the last game, has returned to his original ground at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and backs up the century with another blind innings.

Having scored a half-century, he is timing the ball to perfection and has also looked exceptionally reliable against any bowling attack, especially in such small chases, which do not require bowlers to go and attack every ball bowled at them.

CSK and GT aim for fourth win in IPL 2026 at Chepauk

Currently placed in fifth and seventh position respectively, the two competing teams, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, have won three of their seven matches this season.

Both are at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and are looking for their fourth victory of the season. A fourth win would not elevate CSK, but they would remain in fifth position with 8 points after eight matches.

The Titans, on the other hand, will jump from seventh to fifth if they can win this game, which at the time of writing appears to be within their reach.
