Shubman Gill, who was dropped from the Indian squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, got a great chance to silence all the critics in the ongoing series against Zimbabwe. But the series has not gone well for him so far. The batsman has failed to make a splash in the first two games of the series.

Shubman Gill was in good form in the first match as he scored 31 runs. But he could not take his team home as India ended up losing the match by 13 runs while trailing for 115. The team captain was expected to make a big impact in the second match but it turned out to be a horrible outing for him.

Shubman Gill could not get going at all as he scored lowly in the second T20I. He died off Blessing Muzarabani in the second over as Zimbabwe put India under pressure right down the right. India’s captain for the current tour managed just 2 runs off 4 balls as the team lost the first wicket by 10 runs.

Blessing Muzarabani bowled a full delivery on middle and leg which Shubman Gill tried to steer clear of. But he failed to connect well as he hit the ball straight to mid on where He made a strong catch inside the ring to delight the pacer.

Overall, Shubman Gill has not been able to make his mark in T20I cricket for a while now. In the 16 games, the opening batsman has scored just 368 runs at an average of around 24. He has also hit a half-century and a ton.
