Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul had a lively discussion with the on-field umpire over a controversial decision during the ongoing match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
The LSG captain was not happy with the umpire’s decision to award his team four runs instead of six on the last ball of the innings. On the last ball of the 20th over, SRH captain Pat Cummins bowled a high full delivery towards Nicholas Pooran and the latter clipped it towards the sweeper’s cover.
As the ball looked destined to go for six, Nitish Reddy made a brilliant effort to prevent it from landing on the other side of the boundary mat. The SRH all-rounder timed his jump perfectly and also caught the ball while it was in the air. And as he fell on the boundary, he dropped the ball before falling on the rope.
He, however, could not forcefully release the ball. As a result, the ball ended up touching the boundary strip. The umpires gave a four and KL Rahul was not happy with the decision. The LSG captain wanted a six because he apparently believed the ball landed directly on the boundary rope and not the ground at first. He was seen arguing with the umpire at the start of SRH’s innings.
