Indian National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson, who leads the Rajasthan Royals (RR), failed miserably with the bat in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) led by Pat Cummins on Thursday. Sanju Samson has scored 385 runs in 10 matches of IPL 2024 at an incredible average of 64.17 and a brilliant strike rate of 159.09, his best score being 82*. Although he has great numbers, he failed to perform in the high voltage clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

During the chase, Sanju Samson came out to bat after Jos Buttler was dismissed for a golden duck in the second ball of the first over. Expectations were sky-high for Sanju Samson to get his team off to a good start after an early breakthrough, but he failed to do so and he was dismissed on the fifth ball of the same over.

Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an absolute jaffa outside off stump which came in and destroyed the stumps, leaving Sanju Samson stunned.

According to some fans, Sanju Samson has become the latest victim of the ‘T20 World Cup selection curse’ that has been dogging Indian players in the IPL. In particular, since the announcement of India’s T20 World Cup squad, both the batsmen and bowlers who have been selected have performed poorly.
