Babar Azam set the stage on fire in the ongoing match against Islamabad United and put his team in the driving seat. After being asked to bat first, the captain opened the innings and asserted his authority in the game right from the start.
The first batsman played some glorious shots in his innings and made many stand up and applaud him. Babar Azam first stitched 77 runs in opening partnership with Saim Ayub (38). But after that, his team came under immense pressure as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
But Babar Azam stood up for his team and made sure to keep them in the hunt. Against all odds, he defended his team and made sure to carry his bat and lead his team to a total of over 200 runs.
Babar Azam bowled a sensational ton but what was impressive was the way he led his innings. The batsman slowly advanced a half-century, but his second fifty took just 20 balls as he shifted gears effortlessly. The batsman was at his brutal best and put pressure on the opposition.
Babar Azam smashed bowlers all over the park and finished with an innings of unbeaten 111 runs off 63 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 176 and his innings consisted of 14 fours and 2 sixes in his knock. His innings propelled Peshawar Zalmi to a total of 201 runs on the board. The batsman scored more than 50% of the team’s runs, which speaks volumes about his innings.
