Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has claimed that there are serious unrest inside the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) dressing room during IPL 2026. Tiwary criticized the team’s atmosphere under captain Ajinkya Rahane and urged the management to sack Cameron Green, saying the all-rounder is affecting the balance of the team.
Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, April 14. They currently find themselves at the bottom of the table after three defeats and one no result. The Knight Riders, led by Ajinkya Rahane, need to bounce back to stay in the playoff race.
Team atmosphere not right – Manoj Tiwary on Ajinkya Rahane’s KKR
Manoj Tiwary said Rahane’s direct comments on Cameron Green’s bowling suggest there are problems within the dressing room. Tiwary was unhappy with the bowling against Lucknow Super Giants and questioned Green’s impact.
“The bowlers had not executed properly against LSG. I was very disappointed with the way Cameron Green was bowling his overs. There is a lot of responsibility on Cameron Green, they have invested a lot in him, they have taken him for a high value. He was expected to come and bowl fast at 140 kmph, and trouble the batsmen. But it was ineffective,” Tiwary said on Cricbuzz.
“It was also reflected in the captain’s statement, when he said earlier that we should ask Cricket Australia. When things like this happen, it indicates that the team atmosphere is not right, it is visible on the ground in the form of performance,” Tiwary added.
Cameron Green not batting at the same pace – Manoj Tiwary
Cameron Green has struggled to justify his high price after coming into the tournament in poor form. He scored just 24 runs in his first three innings before posting an unbeaten 32 against the still-unconvincing Lucknow Super Giants.
Manoj Tiwary said Kolkata Knight Riders must fix their team combination and give opportunities to the Indian players waiting on the bench. He believes Green isn’t hitting with the same confidence as before.
“We have to fix the combination now. Cameron Green is not batting with the same flow that we saw when he used to play for Australia when he had just arrived. Except for one or two innings of the IPL, that kind of pace is not seen. It is better to give a chance to the new Indian batsmen who are not getting a chance, like Rinku Singh or Ramandeep SIngh, or some other pinch-hitting batsman,” Tiwary said.
What is the need to interpret it? – Manoj Tiwary
Cameron Green, who had not bowled before, finally bowled two overs against the Lucknow Super Giants. He dismissed Rishabh Pant early but conceded 28 runs, including three boundaries in the penultimate over, which proved costly for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Manoj Tiwary questioned why out of form players are picked based on reputation or price. He said teams shouldn’t draft players just because they are expensive or well-known.
“What is the need to play him just because of his name or reputation? Just because you are paying him Rs 24 crore, there is no need that he should play in every game,” Tiwary added.
Green also has a poor record at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, scoring just 65 runs in three IPL matches at an average of 21.67 and a strike rate of 132.65, with a best score of 41 runs.
